Given:

A set of numbers which are 24, 32, 18, 28, 52, 18, 32, 16, 32.

To Find:

Mean, Median and mode using the given data.

Procedure:

1. The given numbers are 24, 32, 18, 28, 52, 18, 32, 16, 32.

2. Mean is defined as the sum of the total values of the entries divided by the total number of entries.

3. Therefore, using the above formula we can find the mean,

Mean = (24+32+18+28+52+18+32+16+ 32)/8,

=> Mean = 252/9,

=> Mean = 28.

4. Mode is defined as the highest recorded value/ the number which has appeared for the highest number of times in the given data.

5. From the given set of numbers, we can see that 32  is the number with the highest frequency, Therefore from the above definition, we can conclude that the mode of the given data is 32.

6. Median is defined as the middlemost number of the given data, the data must be arranged in sorted order, it can be either ascending or descending.

  • Now, upon arranging the data  in ascending order, we get the new order which is, 16,18,18,24,28,32,32,32,52.

7. As the data is sorted, we can now obtain the middlemost value which is 28 in the above case. (Since 9 are the total number of entries, the 5th entry is the middlemost value). The median of given data is 28.

Therefore the values of mean, median, and mode from the given data are

28,28,32 respectively.
