Given - The numbers whose mean is to be calculated : 41, 43, 48 42,47

Find - Mean of numbers given in question.

Solution - Mean can be calculated by the help of the formula - sum of all the terms/number of terms.

The total number of terms = 5.

Sum of the numbers = 41 + 42 + 43 + 47 + 48

Sum = 221.

Now calculating mean by keeping values in formula -

Mean = 221/5

Mean = 44.2.

Hence, mean of the given numbers is : 44.2.

SOLUTION

TO DETERMINE

The mean of 41, 43, 48, 42,47

EVALUATION

Mean

In measure of central tendency mean is the most common measure.

For a given set of observations mean is the average value of a group of numbers.

It is obtained by adding up all the observations divide by the number of observations

EVALUATION

Here the given observations are

41, 43, 48 42,47

Number of observations = 5

Sum of the observations

= 41 + 43 + 48 + 42 + 47

= 221

Hence the required mean

 \displaystyle \sf{ =  \frac{Sum \:  of \:  the  \: observations }{Number \:  of  \: observations } }

 \displaystyle \sf{ =  \frac{221}{5} }

 \displaystyle \sf{ = 44.2 }
