let the no. of numbers be "n" ie 100

       1        2       3       4    ........     99      100

   (   +        +       +       +                   +          +      ) divided by 2 = Mean

     100    99    98      97                2          1

Therefore the formola is n(n+1) divided by 2

here it is 100(100+1) /2

              =5050
