Solution :-

We know that,

  • Whole numbers starts from 0 and goes upto positive infinity . Ex :- 0, 1, 2, 3, ______.
  • Mean = Sum of all observations / Total number of observations .

So,

→ First five whole numbers are = 0, 1, 2, 3 and 4 .

then,

→ Sum of all observations = 0 + 1 + 2 + 3 + 4 = 10

and,

→ Total number of observations = 5

therefore,

→ Required Mean = Sum of all observations / Total number of observations

→ Required Mean = 10/5

→ Required Mean = 2 (Ans.)

Hence, the mean of the first five whole numbers is equal to 2 .
