Mean is the average in a given set of data.

Given: Marks of 20 students.

76, 44, 45, 87, 71, 72, 82, 83, 41, 32, 75, 32, 46, 78, 17, 80, 84, 12, 77, 74.

To find: The mean.

Answer:

Mean = Sum of all observations/Total number of observations.

Sum of all observations =

76 + 44 + 45 + 87 + 71 + 72 + 82 + 83 + 41 + 32 + 75 + 32 + 46 + 78 + 17 + 80 + 84 + 12 + 77 +74

= 1208

Total  number of observations: 20

Substituting the values,

Mean = 1208/20

= 60.4

Hope it helps :)
