 $16 : x = x : 25$

$x^{2}=16X25$

$x^{2} = 400$

$x = \sqrt{400}$

$x = 20$

(iii)

The mean proportion of $36$ and $49$.  

$36 X 49 = 1764$

The square root of $1764 = 42$.

So, $42$ is the mean proportion of $36$ and $49$.
