Given:-

Line l ║ m and p ║ q.

To Find:-

Value of x in a) and b)

Solution:-

At first, we have line l ║ m and p ║ q.

a) If line l ║ m then t is transversal

∴ 5x + x = 180°                   [ Consecutive Interior angles ]

⇒ 6x = 180°

⇒ x = 30°

b) If line p ║ q and l is transversal

∴ x = 110°                    [ Corresponding angles ]

So, Value of x in a) is 30° and in b) is 110°.

Some important terms:-

  • If two parallel lines are intersected by a transversal then:-
  1. Alternate Interior Angles are equal.
  2. Alternate Exterior Angles are equal.
  3. Corresponding Angles are equal.
  4. Vertically Opposite Angles are equal.
  5. Consecutive Interior Angles are Supplementary.
