Answer:

A common arm

A common vertex

Their interiors do not overlap

The sum of two angles is 180°.

Therefore, linear pair of angles are adjacent angles whose non-common arms are opposite rays.

Note:

All adjacent angles do not form a linear pair.

Question :- Find the measurement of all linear pair angles from the figure given below. ?

Solution :-

we know that,

A linear pair is a pair of adjacent angles formed when two lines intersect.

so, from image we get,

  • ∠1 and ∠2 form a linear pair .
  • ∠2 and ∠3 form a linear pair .
  • ∠3 and ∠4 form a linear pair .
  • ∠1 and ∠4 form a linear pair .
  • ∠5 and ∠6 form a linear pair .
  • ∠6 and ∠7 form a linear pair .
  • ∠7 and ∠8 form a linear pair .
  • ∠5 and ∠8 form a linear pair .

also, since a straight angle contains 180°, the two angles forming a linear pair also contain 180° when their measures are added .

therefore , measurements of all linear pair angles formed adds upto 180° .
