First eight consecutive numbers = 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8.

Number of observations = n = 8 (even)

So, Median = 1/2 × [(n/2)th observation + { (n/2) + 1}th observation]

= 1/2 × ([(8/2)th observation + (8/2) + 1 th observation]

= 1/2 × (4th observation + 5th observation)

= 1/2 × (4 + 5)

= 1/2 × 9

= 4.5
