Find the median for 1,4,8,13?
Answers
Given :- Find the median for 1,4,8,13?
Solution :-
we know that, after arranging the data in ascending order ,
when n = even number , median is,
- (n/2)th term + (n/2) + 1 th term / 2
so,
→ Median of 1,4,8,13 = 4 values = even number .
then,
→ n = 4
→ (n/2) th term = 4/2 = 2nd term = 4
→ (n/2 + 1)th term = 3rd term = 8
therefore,
→ Median = (4 + 8)/2 = 12/2 = 6 (Ans.)

SOLUTION
TO DETERMINE
The median for 1,4,8,13
CONCEPT TO BE IMPLEMENTED
Median :
Median is the middle most value of a set of observations when the samples are arranged in order of magnitudes ( Either in ascending or in descending)
EVALUATION
Here the given set of observations
1 , 4 , 8 , 13
The given set of data are in ascending order
Total number of observations = 4
Which is even
Now we know that Median is the middle most value of a set of observations when the samples are arranged in order of magnitudes ( Either in ascending or in descending)
Hence the required median
= Mean of 2nd and 3rd observations
= (4+8) /2
= 12/2
= 6
