Median of the data is 2.5

Given:

The observations of data are  -1, 3, 5, 2, 0, 7

To find:

The median of the data

Solution:

Formula used:

Median = [(n/2)th term + ((n/2) + 1)th term]/2

Where 'n' is the number of observations and an even number

To find the median arrange the data in ascending order

=>  -1, 0, 2, 3, 5, 7

Here the number of observations = 6

Using the formula,

Median of the data = [(6/2)th term + ((6/2) + 1)th term]/2

= [(3)th term + (4)th term]/2

= [ 2 + 3 ]/2 = 5/2 = 2.5

Therefore,

Median of the data is 2.5
