Answer:

Median of  17,14,19,21,25  is 19 .

Step-by-step explanation:

To find : median of given data .

Given data : 17,14,19,21,25

Solution:

  • According to question we are asked to find median for the given data .
  • Median is the middle number of the the observation in a sorted, ascending or descending order.
  • If first arrange given data in ascending order , i.e. from smallest to biggest number .
  • Ascending order  : 14, 17 , 19, 21, 25
  • We know that if number of observations is odd, then number in the middle of observation list is the median.
  • Also, we can find the value by taking the value of \left(\frac{n+1}{2}\right)^{\text {th }} term, where $n$ is the number of observation.
  • In ,14, 17 , 19, 21, 25,  n = 5
  • Therefore on substituting values we get, (\frac{5+1}{2}\right))^{t h}$ $=\left(\frac{6}{2}\right)^{t h}$ $=(3)^{t h}$
  • Here, $3^{r d}$ term is 19 . Hence, median is 19 . Also we can directly write 19as median as it is middle term.

Step 1-

Put all numbers in a order-
14,17,19,21,25

Step 2-
No. of observations =5

Step 3-

Middle term=5+1/2 or  3rd Observation

Now we know our 3rd observation is 19
Hence the 3rd observation = 19 is the MEDIAN

19 IS MEDIAN
