Given :- find the median of :- 72, 0, 46, 34, 8, 31, 65, 25, 39, 53, 18 ?

Solution :-

we know that, The median of a set of data is the middlemost number in the set. The median is also the number that is halfway into the set. To find the median, the data should first be arranged in order from least to greatest.

→ If there is an odd number of terms, the median is the center term. = (n+1)/2

→ If there is an even number of terms, add the two middle terms and divide by 2 = {(n/2 term)+(n/2+1) term}/2

So,

→ Arranging in ascending order we get :-

  • 0, 8, 18, 25, 31, 34, 39, 46, 53, 65 and 72 .
  • 11 terms = Odd number of terms.

then,

→ Median = center term = (11 + 1)/2 = 12/2 = 6th term => 34 (Ans.)

Hence, Median of given data is 34.
