Hi friend !

Let's arrange them in ascending order[increasing order]:-

41,43,57,58,61,71,92,99,127

No: of observations = n = 9 [ odd]
Median = n + 1/2
= 10/2 = 5th observation
= 61

------------------------------------
if 58 is replaced by 85 :, the order of no:s would be :-

41,43,57,61,71,85,92,99,127

no: of observations = n = 9
median = n + 1/2
= 10/2
= 5th observation
=71

71 is the new median !

Answer:

correct option is A 71

given that

41,43,127,99,61,92,71,58,57

arrange the data in ascending order

41,43,57,58,61,71,92,99,127

Here observe that No' of observations (n) are odd i.e n=9

So median is 2n+1 th term

Median =2n+1th term =n9+1 th term

                                           =5 th term

                                           =61

58 is replaced by 85

 then new data is

41,43,57,85,61,71,92,99,127

arrange the data in ascending order

41,43,57,61,71,85,92,99,127

Here observe that no's observation are odd i.e n=9

So

median is 2n+1th term

   Median         =29+1 th term

                         =5th term

                         =71

∴ new median =71
