Here is your answer -

• Median •

It gives idea about the middle number of the set of data.

✓ To find the median of a data we can use following steps :

- First of arrange these data in this order -

5, 5, 7, 9, 11, 12, 15, 18

- count the number of set of numbers. Here total number is 8. So it is called as even set of numbers.

- Now find the number having middle position. Here two numbers are in middle position because it has even set of numbers. Those numbers are 9 and 11

- Now add both numbers and divide by 2.
we get,

= ( 9 + 11 ) ÷ 2

= 20 ÷ 2

= 10

Hence the median is 14.5

Thanks !!!

Here, there are total 8 data points. Since we have even number of data points, there will be two middle points when they are arranged in ascending order.

In order to find the median of data with even number of data points, we take the average of the middle two points.

Arranging in the ascending order: 5,5,7,9,11,12,15,18

The middle data points are the 4th and 5th data points which are 9 and 11 respectively.

Median = (9+11)/2 = 20/2 = 10

Hence the median is 10.

Hope it helps!
