Arranging the observations in ascending order :

54, 63, 66, 72, 87, 92, 98

median  =  (\frac{n + 1}{2} )th \: observation

 =  \frac{7 + 1}{2}  =  \frac{8}{2}

 = 4th \: observation

The fourth observation is 72, Therefore the median is 72.
