Answer:

Median of the square of the first 8 natural numbers is 20.5.

Step-by-step explanation:

Given:- Square of first 8 natural numbers.

To Find:- Median of them.

Solution:-

The square of first 8 natural numbers are:

1, 4, 9, 16, 25, 36, 49, 64

As we know, here the number of elements is 8 i.e. even.

∴ Median = [\frac{(\frac{n}{2})^{th} term + (\frac{n}{2}+1)^{th} term]}{2}

(\frac{n}{2} )^{th} term = \frac{8}{2} = 4^{th} term = 16 and,

(\frac{n}{2} +1)^{th} term =( \frac{8}{2} +1)^{th}  term = (4+1) ^{th} term = 5^{th} term = 25.

∴ Median = \frac{16+25}{2}

                = \frac{41}{2} = 20.5

Hence, median of the square of the first 8 natural numbers is 20.5.
