Median is the middlemost observation in a given set of data.

Given: Weight in Kilograms (Kg).

To find: The median.

Answer:

Observations: 45, 46, 48, 50, 52, 54 and 55.

Their frequencies: 45 - 8, 46 - 5, 48 - 6, 50 - 9, 52 - 7, 54 - 4 and 55 - 2.

In ascending order:

45, 45, 45, 45, 45, 45, 45, 45, 46, 46, 46, 46, 46, 48, 48, 48, 48, 48, 48, 50, 50, 50, 50, 50, 50, 50, 50, 50, 52, 52, 52, 52, 52, 52, 52, 54, 54, 54, 54, 55, 55.

Total number of observations: 41.

Formula to find the median: (n + 1)/2, where n represents the total number of observations.

NOTE: The above formula is used only when n = an odd number.

Median = (41 + 1)/2

= 42/2

= 21st term

= 50

Therefore, the median of the data is 50 (kg).
