            Each chain consists of 3 links.

            Cost of opening a link = Rs.10

            Cost of welding an open link = Rs.10

Solution:-

Let's number the chains as  1, 2, 3, 4, 5 each one of them having three links.

Now let's take chain 1 and break open all 3 links.

As we know, Cost of opening each link = Rs.10

∴ Cost of opening 3 links = 3 × 10 = Rs.30

Now take one open link and use it to connect chain 2 and chain 3.

∴ Cost of welding = Rs.10

Now again using one open link connect chain 3 and chain 4.

∴ Cost of welding = Rs.10

Now using the last open link to connect chain 4 and chain 5.

∴ Cost of welding = Rs.10

Total cost = Cost of opening 3 links + 3(cost of welding open links)

                 = 30+10+10+10

                 = 60

Hence, the minimum cost of making five pieces of chain with three links is Rs.60.
