? = 216

Given:

3, 6, 9, 36, 27,?

To find:

The missing number

Solution:

It can be seen here that two series are formed in this question.

First series is 3,9,27 in which first number is multiplied by 3

3*3 = 9

9*3 = 27 and so on

Second series is 6,36,? in which previous number is multiplied by 6 resulting in the next number

6*6 = 36

hence, odd series is multiplication of 3 and even series is multiplication of 6

Our missing number is in second series, so previous number of second series will be multiplied by 6

36*6 = 216

Hence, the missing number is 216.
