Given,

A series 101, 100,?, 87, 71, 46.

To find,

?

Solution,

If we see the first and second number we find that, 101 - 100 = 1

Taking the square root of 1 = 1

If we take third and fourth number, we find that, 87 - 71 = 16

Taking the square root of 16, \sqrt{16}=4

If we take fourth and fifth number, we find that, 71 - 46 = 25

Taking the square root of 25, \sqrt{25}=5

Similarly,

Taking 100 - 96, we get 4

Square root of 4 is 2.

So, the value of ? is 2.
