Missing term is 21.

Given:

5,10,6,12,9,16,14,22,?

To find:

Find the missing term

Solution:

This series can be divided into two series.

One series consisting of numbers at odd place and other consisting of numbers at even place.

So, one series is 5,6,9,14,?

Another series is 10,12,16,22

It can be seen in second series that there is addition of consecutive even numbers to previous numbers.

10 + 2 = 12

12 + 4 = 16

16 + 6 = 22

Now, we will see series 1.

In series one, consecutive odd numbers are added to previous number.

5 + 1 = 6

6 + 3 =9

9 + 5 = 14

14 + 7 = 21

Hence, our answer will be 21 as missing number is in 1st series and 21 is the next number in that series.
