Let the compound be CnH3n
Therefore the compound contains 'n' carbon atoms and 3n Hydrogen atoms.
Therefore, the molecular mass of the compound will be- 12×n + 1×3n= 12n+3n=15n
According to the question,
15n=30
Therefore, n=2
Therefore the compound will be C2H(2×3)
=C2H6.
Verification-
Mass of C2H6= 12×2 + 1×6
=24+6=30 a.m.u
Hence, proved.
