The nth term of the A.P is a_n=-3n+11.

Step-by-step explanation:

Given : The A.P whose 6th term is -7 and 10th term is -19 .

To find : The nth term of the A.P ?

Solution :

The nth term of an A.P is a_n=a+(n-1)d

The A.P whose 6th term is -7.

a+5d=-7  .....(1)

The A.P whose 10th term is -19.

a+9d=-19  .....(2)

Subtract (1) and (2),

a+5d-a-9d=-7-(-19)

-4d=12

d=-\frac{12}{4}

d=-3

Substitute in (1),

a+5(-3)=-7

a-15=-7

a=-7+15

a=8

The nth term of the A.P is a_n=a+(n-1)d

a_n=8+(n-1)-3

a_n=8-3n+3

a_n=-3n+11
