x²– x + 2 = 0

Compare given equation with the general form of quadratic equation, which is ax2 + bx + c = 0

a = 1, b = – 1, c = 2

Discriminant: D = b2 – 4ac

= (– 1)2 – 4 x 1 x 2

= 1 – 8

= – 7 < 0

Equation has no real roots.

{x}^{2} + x - 5 = 0

D = {b}^{2} - 4ac \\ D = {1}^{2} - 4 \times 1 \times ( - 5) \\ D = 1 - 20 = - 19

D > 0 \\ so \: it \: have \: no \: real \: roots

hope it will help u☺️
