The correct option (c) [(3/25), (4/25)] Explanation: foot of ⊥ from (x1, y1) on line ax + by + c = 0 is [(x – x1)/a] = [(y – y1)/b] = [{– (ax1 + by1 + c)}/(a2 + b2)] ∴ nearest point from origin on 3x + 4y = 1 is [(x – 0)/3] = [(y – 0)/4] = [{– (– 1)}/(32 + 42)] ∴ (x/3) = (y/4) = (1/25) ∴ x = (3/25) and y = (4/25) ∴ point is [(3/25), (4/25)]
