Find the net forces acting on the following blocks.
Answers
Explanation:
Add all the forces acting on it with reference to direction. Means, first add forces working vertically, like normal and gravity, most probably they will cancel out each other if body is at rest or horizontal motion.
Then add horizontal forces acting from both the sides. If the body is at rest they will too cancel out each other. If in motion one of them would be greater. Do not forget to add negative sign with forces working in opposite direction of motion.
For example, there is a body called A. You put a slight effort of 1N from it's right, but it didn't move because friction is cancelling this force. Also the body is not going down because normal force from the table is cancelling gravity. Then you put the force of 5N. The body moved towards left. This means net force is acting towards left while friction is opposing the force towards right.
Net force = 5N - friction
= 5N - 1N
= 4N
Note: Forces were also acting vertically but they were cancelled out by each other.
