Given   : series: XXVII, CXXV, CCCXLIII, DCCXXIX

To find : Next number in series

Solution:

Roman Numbers

I = 1

V = 5

X = 10

L = 50

C = 100

D = 500

M = 1000

XXVII   = 10 + 10 + 5 + 1 + 1  = 27 = 3³

CXXV  = 100 + 10 + 10 + 5  = 125 = 5³

CCCXLIII  = 100 + 100 + 100  -10 + 50 + 1 + 1 + 1  = 343 = 7³

DCCXXIX = 500 + 100 + 100 + 10  + 10 -1 + 10   =  729 = 9³

Hence next number will be 11³  =  1331

1331 = 1000 + 100 + 100 + 100 + 10 + 10 + 10 + 1

1331 = MCCCXXXI  

Logic is Tₙ = (2n+1)³ in Roman Numbers  

Next number in sequence will be MCCCXXXI
