Answer:

155 - 141 = 14

171 - 155 = 16

189 - 171 = 18

209 - 189 = 20

the common difference is increasing by 2

209 + 22 = 231

231 + 24 = 255

CONCEPT

Number Systems

GIVEN

A continuous  series of positive numbers.

141,155,171,189,209

FIND

We are asked to find next two numbers of the series.

SOLUTION

  • To solve these questions we must find the relation between the numbers.
  • Generally there exist a common relation in their sum or difference or product  between the numbers.

By observation,

  • Difference between first and second number is 155-141=14.
  • Difference between second and third number is 171-155=16.

Similarly,  the remaining differences are 18,20.

Hence the differences gets incremented by 2 for each new term.

  • The next term should have difference of 22 with last term 209 hence , new term is 209+22 = 231.
  • The next term should have difference of 24 with last term 231 hence , new term is 231+24 = 255.

The two terms are 231 and 256 for the above series .
