Answer:

no. of CO₂ molecules = 2 mol

no. of oxygen atoms = 24.088 X 10²³ atoms

Explanation:

Given

Mass of CO₂ = 88 g

no. of CO₂ molecules = ??

no. of oxygen atoms = ??

Solution

Atomic mass of oxygen = 16 g/mol

Atomic mass of carbon = 12 g/mol

molecular mass of CO₂ = 12 + (16 X 2)

molecular mass of CO₂ = 44 g/mol

as we know that

No. of Moles = Given mass/ Molecular mass

no. of CO₂ molecules = 88/ 44

no. of CO₂ molecules = 2 mol

For oxygen atoms

1 mol of CO₂ contains 2 mol of oxygen

2 mol of CO₂ contains 4 mol of oxygen

Number of oxygen atoms = No. of Moles of oxygen X Avogadro's number

no. of oxygen atoms = 4 mol X 6.022 X 10²³ atoms/ mol

no. of oxygen atoms = 24.088 X 10²³ atoms
