Answer:

a9 = a + ( n-1)d

d = -5

n = 1

a = -10

therefore a9= -10+8*(-5)

= -10-40

=-50 is the answer

GIVEN:-

A.P. -10,-15,-20,-25.

To Find:-

nth term of the A.P.

SOLUTION:-

Formula used to find the nth term:-

\large{\underline{\boxed{\sf{\blue{a_{n}=a+(n-1)\times\:d}}}}}

where,

  • a is the first term
  • d is the common difference
  • n is the term

According to the question,

\large\Rightarrow{\sf{a_{n}=a+(n-1)\times\:d}}

where,

  • a = -10
  • d = -15-(-10)

= -15 + 10

= -5

Putting the values,

\large\Rightarrow{\sf{a_{n}=(-10)+(n-1)\times-5}}

\large\Rightarrow{\sf{a_{n}=(-10)+(-5n)+5}}

\large\Rightarrow{\sf{a_{n}=(-10)+5+(-5n)}}

\large\Rightarrow{\sf{a_{n}=(-5)+(-5n)}}

\large\boxed{\therefore{\sf{a_{n}=-5-5n}}}

\large{\pink{\underline{\boxed{\therefore{\sf{\pink{nth\:term\:of\:the\:A.P.\:is\:(-5-5n).}}}}}}}
