Question :

  • Find two consecutive natural numbers whose sum is 53 .

Solution :

  • Let the two natural numbers be x and x+ 1 .

A/Q

Sum of the numbers = 53

x + x + 1 = 53

2x + 1 = 53

2x = 53 - 1

2x = 52

x = 52/2

x = 26

x + 1 = 26 + 1 = 27

Hence the two consecutive natural numbers are 26 and 27 .

All the positive integers used for counting are called natural numbers . These numbers are counting numbers and start from 1 and end at infinity .

Zero is considered a whole number rather than a natural number because it is not a positive integer . Zero is neither negetive nor positive . Hence it considered a whole number.

Answer:

26 & 27

Step-by-step explanation:

Two consecutive natural numbers whose sum is 53.

Assume that the two consecutive natural numbers be (x) and (x + 1).

As per given condition,

Sum of both the consecutive numbers i.e. x & x + 1 is 53.

→ x + (x + 1) = 53

→ x + x + 1 = 53

→ 2x = 53 - 1

→ 2x = 52

Divide by 2 on both sides,

→ 2x/2 = 52/2

→ x = 26

Hence,

The one number = x = 26

Other number = x + 1 = 26 + 1 = 27
