Answer:

Answer is 0.1 moles

Concept used :   number of moles = given mass of the compound / molar mass of the compound

Explanation:

In the given question , given mass of water is 1.8 gram and we know that the molar mass of water is 18 gram ( why? ) . so the answer is that

mass of 1 H atom is 1 g . so mass of 2 atoms of H is 2 g .

similarly , one atom of oxygen has mass 16 g.

so molar mass of H2O = 2 × 1 + 16 = 18 g

 therefore by using formula

number of moles= given mass / molar mass

                                 =  1.8 / 18

                                  = 0.1 moles
