SOLUTION
TO DETERMINE
The number of points at which line representing x + y = 3 , 3x - 5y = 5, intersect.
EVALUATION
Here the given equation of lines are
x + y = 3 - - - - - (1)
3x - 5y = 5 - - - - - (2)
5 × Equation 1 + Equation 2 gives
8x = 20
⇒ x = 2.5
From Equation 1 we get
y = 3 - 2.5 = 0.5
So the solution is x = 2.5 & y = 0.5
Since the solution is unique
So the given pair of lines intersect at only one point and the point is (2.5 0.5)
