Let the number be ( k )

According to the question :

\frac{27 + k}{35 + k} = \frac{4}{5}

= 5( 27 + k ) = 4( 35 + k )

= 135 + 5k = 140 + 4k

= 5k - 4k = 140 - 135

= k = 5
