Answer ii by another method 2.

5% of 150=5/100 × 150=15/2=7whole 1/2=7.5.

Now, 5% of 50 less than 50=50-7.5

Solution:-

(a) 10% more than 80.

The required number = 80 + 10% of 80

$= 80 \times \frac{10}{100} \times 80 = 80 + 8 = 88$

Hence the required number is 88

(ii) 5% less than 150.

The required number = 150 - 5% of 150

$= 150 - \frac{5}{100} \times 150 = 150 - \frac{15}{2} \\ \\ = \frac{300 - 15}{2} = \frac{285}{2} = 142.5$

Hence the required number is 142.5
