Initial ratio = 27 : 35

Changed ratio = 4 : 5

Find the number that was added:

let x be the number that was added to each term

(27 + x)/(35 + x) = 4/5

5(27 + x) = 4(35 + x)

135 + 5x = 140 + 4x

x = 5

Answer: The number that was added is 5.

Initial Ratio = 27:35

Changed ratio = 4:5

Let the number be added to each of ratio be x

A/q

(27+x)/(35+x) = 4/5
=> 5(27+x) = 4(35+x)
=> 135 + 5x = 140 + 4x
=> 5x - 4x = 140 - 135
=> x = 5

Hence,

 \underline {\bold {The~number~is~5}}
