Let x should be added to the

terms of the ratio 7:13 makes

it equal to the ratio 3:5

=> (7+x):(13+x) = 3:5

=> (7+x)*5 = (13+x)3

=> 35+5x = 39+3x

=> 5x-3x = 39-35

=> 2x = 4

=> x = 4/2

=> x = 2

Therefore,

Required number = x = 2
