Finding the number

Answer: Required number is 200.

Explanation:

Given that for a number if a fifth part is increased by 5 ,  is equal to fourth part diminished by 5

let number by x

fifth part of the number = x/5

fifth part increased by 5 = (x/5) + 5    ---------eq(1)

fourth part of the number = x/4

fourth part diminished by 5 =  (x/4) - 5     ---------eq(2)

As fifth part increased by 5 = fourth part diminished by 5 , equating eq(1) and eq(2) we get

(x/5) + 5 = (x/4) - 5

=> (x/5)  - (x/4) = -5 - 5

=> ( 4x - 5x )/20 = -10

=> -x/20 = -10

=> -x = -10 × 20

=> x = -200

=> x = 200

Hence required number is 200.
