Since the two parts are in the ratio 5:3, then let the first number be 5x and second number be 3x. As second number is 10 more than the other, so it will be 3x+10.

5x=3x+10

2x=10

x=5

The first number becomes 5(5)=25 and second number becomes 3(5)=15.

The new number will be 25+15=40.

Answer:

A number is divided in to two parts such that one part is 10 more than the other. If the two parts are in the ratio 5:3, find the number and the two parts.

solution:

      let one part of number = x

          therefore ,  other part of number = x+10

  according to question ,

            x+10/x=5/3

          3(x+10)= 5x

          3x+30 =5x

            30 = 5x -3x

            30 = 2x

    or x=30/2

        x=15

therefore one part of number = 15

and other part = 15+10 =25

hence number = 15+25 =40

hope this helps you!!!

Answer: One part of number is 15 and other part of number is 15+10=25.

Step-by-step explanation:

Let one part of number= a

Therefore other part of number = a+10

Ratio 5:3 can also written in the form of fraction 5/3

According to question (ATQ)

a+10/a=5/3

3(a+10)=5a

30=5a-3a

30=2a

a=30/2

a=15

Therefore one part of number=15

And other part of number=15+10=25

Hence number=15+25=40...

Hope this will help you....
