  • The first positive integer = 25.
  • The second positive integer = 75.

Given :–

  • The difference between two positive integers = 50.
  • The ratio of these integers = 1 : 3.

To Find :–

  • The integers.

Solution :–

Let,

The first positive integer be 1x.

The second positive integer be 3x.

According to the condition,

The difference between two positive integers is 50.

I.e.,

First positive integer – Second positive integer = 50

 \mapsto \sf 3x - 1x = 50 ––––(1)

Now, solve this.

\mapsto 3x - 1x = 50

\mapsto 3x - x = 50

\mapsto 2x = 50

\mapsto x =  \cancel \dfrac{50}{2}

\mapsto x = 25

So, the positive integers are :

First positive integer = 1x = 1 × 25 = 25.

Second positive integer = 3x = 3 × 25 = 75.

Hence,

The integers are 25 and 75.

Verification :–

Substitute both the positive integers in equation (1),

\mapsto 3x - 1x = 50

We have,

  • 3x = 75.
  • 1x = 25.

\mapsto 75 - 25 = 50

\mapsto 50 = 50
