Algae that comes under the plantae kingdom is further classified into three types of algae based on the pigments present in their choloplast :-

  1. Chlorophta (Green algae ) - It is the most advanced algae and are cosmopolitan in nature which means that it is present almost in a wide range all over the world .Examples include- Chara,Ulothrix, Spirogyra etc.
  2. Rhodophyta (Red algae ) - It is red in colour and is also known as ancient algae .These are mostly found in the marine water deep in the oceans and seas .Examples include - Porphyra ,Polysiphonia etc .
  3. Phaeophyta (brown algae ) - These algae are found in marine places and brackish water but rarely in fresh water .These are the most largest algae about 100m.Examples Include - Laminaria ,Dictyota etc .

Bryophytes are the amphibians of plant kingdom as they live on land but require water for their reproduction processes .These are also referred as the first land plants .Grow in moist and shady places hence called as sciophytes. These are further divided into three classes :-

  1. Hepatopsida - These are mostly liver like in shape or else flat and hence are called Liverworts. Examples are marchantia ,Riccia etc .
  2. Anthocerotopsida - They have plant body which is thallus like on which rhizoids are present .Examples is Anthoceros.
  3. Bryopsida - These include plant body of mosses that is made up of rhizoids ,with leaf and stem like structures Examples are Sphagnum, Funaria etc .
