4

Answer:

i) zero

ii) +1.3

Explanation:

i) It is an exceptional case I have to say. Here since oxidation number of SO is zero, any equations with SO gives zero oxidation state.

ii) It can be found through the following algorithm.

C3O2 where oxidation number/state of Carbon to be found. So let's consider carbon's oxidation number as x.

3x + (2 * -2) = 0 {Since oxygen Oxidation no=-2}

3x + (-4) = 0

3x = 4

x = 4/3 = +1.3

Hope it helped you..:)
