1+x-8=0

x=7

let the oxidation no of Mn is = X

in KMnO4, k and O have oxidation no +1,-2 respectively and KMnO4 is a stable and uncharged compound, so it's oxidation no will be 0,

so,

+1 + X +(-2)8=0

X-7 = 0

X= +7
