According to Newlands law of Octaves, atoms are arranged according to their atomic weights in increasing order and every eighth atom has the same properties to the properties of first atom. There are total 56 atoms were discovered at the time of Newlands.

According to this law following sets of atoms having similar properties;

F = Cl

Mg = Ca

C = Si

O = S

B = Al
