Given area of trapezium = 1.6 sq m
Altitude, h = 10 dm = 1 m
Let one of the parallel sides be x then the other side will be (x + 0.8) m
Recall that area of trapezium, A = (1/2) x h x (a + b)
1.6 = (1/2) × 1 × (x + x + 0.8)
3.2 = 2x + 0.8
2x = 3.2 - 0.8 = 2.4
Therefore, x = 1.2 m
(x + 0.8) = 2 m

the parallel sides are 1.2m and 2 m
