TO FIND :

The percentage increase in KE of a body.

SOLUTION :

Let, P_i = Initial momentum

According to the given information,

P_f = P_i + 50 \% P_i

P_f = P_i + \dfrac {500}{100} P_i

P_f = P_i + 0.5 P_i

P_f = 1.5 P_i

KE = \dfrac {p^{2}}{2m} ............ KE \propto p^{2}

KE_f = (1.5)^{2} \times KE_i

2.5 \times KE_i

\therefore \Delta KE = KE_f - KE_i

2.25 KE_i - KE_f

1.25 KE_i

\Delta KE \times 100 = 1.25 \times 100 \% KE_f

125 \% KE_i

\therefore The percentage increase in KE of a body is 125\% KE_i.
