Let us take a simple case of a right-angled triangle of sides 3 cm, 4 cm and 5 cm.

Its area will be 3*4/2 = 6 sq cm.

If you double the sides of the right-angled triangle they become 6 cm, 8 cm and 10 cm.

The new area will be 6*8/2 = 24 sq cm.

This is four times the original area.

Hence the increase in area is 300 %.
