length= 40m

breadth=30m

perimeter of rectangular field = 2(l+b)

= 2(40+30)

= 2×70

=140m^2

cost of fencing per metre = Rs. 12

cost of fencing 140 metre = 140×12

= Rs 1680

hence, the cost of fencing the field= Rs 1680

Question:

Find the perimeter and area of a rectangular field whose length and breadth are 40 m and 30m respectively. Also, find the cost of fencing the field at the rate of 12rs per m.

Given:

  • Length of the field = 40m
  • Breadth of the field = 30m

To find:

  • Perimeter and area of the rectangle
  • The cost of fencing the field.

Calculation:

We know that,

 {\large {\boxed {\rm {\purple { Perimeter \: of \: rect. = 2(length +breadth )}}}}}

substituting values-

➡ Perimeter of rectangle = 2 ( length + breadth )

 \qquad \qquad ↪ 2(40+30)m

 \qquad \qquad ↪ ( 2 + 70 )m

 \qquad \qquad ↪ 140m

We also know that,

 {\large {\boxed {\rm {\purple { Ar. \: of \: rect. = length \times breadth }}}}}

substituting values-

➡ Area of rectangle = Length × breadth

 \qquad \qquad ↪ (40 × 30)m

 \qquad \qquad ↪ 120m^2

And,

The cost of fencing the field per m = ₹12

The cost of fencing the field 140m = ₹12 × 140m

The cost of fencing the field 140m = 1680
