area of rectangle=area of square

l*b=a²

8*2=a²

a²=16

a=4

perimeter of square =4*4=16cm

question :-

find the perimeter of a square having the same area as that of a rectangle of length 8 cm and breadth 2 cm

(solve the following question)

\\\;\underbrace{\underline{\sf{understanding\: the\: question}}}

in question it's saying that; first we have to find area of rectangle then we will get area which is same as area of square, then we have to find side of the square, after finding sides of the square we have to find perimeter of square.

\underline\bold{let's\:find\:out}

given :-

  • area of square = area of rectangle
  • length = 8 cm
  • breadth = 2 cm

let's find out:-

\underline\bold\red{fine \:area\: of\: rectangle}

\mathfrak\green{using\:formula}

area of rectangle is (l×b)

 =  >  \: a = (8 \times 2)

 =  >  \: a = (16)

 =  >  \:  a = 16 {cm}^{2}

hence area of rectangle is 16cm²

°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°

now find the sides of square

we know that the area of square is (s²) which is equal to area of rectangle

so,

=> area of square = area of rectangle

 =  >   \:    {s}^{2}  = 16

 =  >  \:   s =  \sqrt{16}

 =  >  \: s = 4

hence the side of the square is 4cm

now find the perimeter of square.

using formula:

perimeter of square = 4(side)

 =  >  \: p =  \: 4(side)

 =  >  \: p = 4(4)

 =  >  \: p = 16cm

hence the perimeter of square is 16cm
